Description of Work
The Capstone Development Manager is responsible for supporting the School of Computing’s (SoC) capstone programs as well as the Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED). The Development Manager will support these entities principally by securing financial awards and managing relationships with project sponsors for Senior Design in SoC, projects for other Departments within the College of Engineering for ORED, and other business-development opportunities for UNL. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing an annual development plan and contributing to long-term funding strategies. This position will build and maintain relationships with potential project sponsors throughout the U.S. They will work with other members of the capstone team and potential sponsors to conceptualize and realize funded, sponsored projects that are distinctive and high-quality project-based educational experiences for students. They will coordinate with SoC and ORED faculty to provide support across student projects and project deployment. This position will also support day- to-day operations of the capstone programs.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related field and five (5) years of experience in sales, business development, fundraising, client relations, account management or a related field. Experience in higher education. Experience in interacting with sponsors, customers and/or donors. Knowledge of marketing and donor engagement, budgeting and forecasting. Knowledge of project management best practices. Ability to develop financial projections and analyze complex financial data in an accurate and timely manner. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely. Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and be organized. Ability to apply research guidelines to proposals, documentation, and research activity. Demonstrated skills and ability to manage multi-phase projects from inception to completion, including the ability to build consensus among team members and balance multiple concurrent priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge and experience with computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, data science, or closely related fields.

Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required. Subject to DOT approved pre-employment & random testing for alcohol and controlled substances.
