Job Description Summary:
The George Washington Cancer Center (GW Cancer Center) is part of the George Washington University and part of a globally recognized academic medical center that embraces the challenge of eliminating health disparities and transforming health care to enrich and improve the lives of those we serve. GW Cancer Center incorporates all cancer-related activities at GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences, GW Medical Faculty Associates, GW Hospital, GW Milken Institute School of Public Health, and serves as a platform to refocus and re-energize the university’s efforts in cancer research and patient care. Dr. Pratt-Chapman’s lab is hiring an administrator to work across a range of sponsored projects and to support Community Outreach, Engagement and Equity evaluation and reporting.
We are seeking a dynamic Cancer Center Administrator to support the Associate Director, Community Outreach, Engagement, and Equity, with evaluation planning, data acquisition, quality assurance, data monitoring and cleaning, analysis, and dissemination across a number of projects. Projects include national technical assistance to state departments of health, tribes and territories as well as direct outreach to Black, Latino, and LGBTQI residents in the Washington, DC area.
The Cancer Center Administrator will be responsible for ensuring protocol procedures are completed accurately, safely, and in a timely manner. Additional responsibilities include regulatory compliance, patient recruitment and enrollment, data collection, electronic health record data abstraction, research chart documentation and abstraction, quality assurance, report preparation, protocol information dissemination to health care professionals, patients and their family members.
Duties
  • Remain current on research and evaluation trends
  • Create and maintain a positive work environment that fosters a strong client-centered focus and teamwork
  • Oversee research and evaluation projects, including big-picture planning and start-up, project design, timeline development, resource allocation, and reporting
  • Develop conceptual models (e.g., logic models, theories of change, etc.)
  • Develop instruments and data collection/survey protocols
  • Conduct literature reviews and synthesize findings for incorporation in project design
  • Design or identify appropriate qualitative or quantitative instruments for projects based on needs
  • Establish protocols and methodology for the collection, entry, management, and analysis of data
  • Write and submit IRB applications
  • Administer and/or oversee data collection protocols
  • Oversee data management, database creation, and data entry plans
  • Establish and implement quality assurance and improvement plans to ensure the successful execution of projects
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data using common programs (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R, NVivo, Dedoose, Survey Monkey, Qualtrics)
  • Interpret results from statistical and qualitative output
  • Write and develop final reports in various formats based on project needs (narrative, PowerPoint, using data visualization tools)

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a BA/BS in a related discipline plus 5 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.

  • Master’s and/or Doctorate Degree in Public Health or related field

  • Experience working in a cancer center or cancer control program preferred
  • Experience with data abstraction from EPIC electronic health records
  • Comprehensive understanding of fundamental research and evaluation principles, practices, and procedures
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees
  • Excellent organizational skills given coordination of multidisciplinary teams, various logistical components, and data acquisition
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Adept at problem solving and exercising flexibility and agility
  • Strong time management and planning skills
  • Ability to make connections across internal and external teams of care
  • Willingness to learn and further develop skills reflective of best practices and trends in the field
  • Solid working knowledge of relevant software, including Microsoft Office Suite, REDCap, SPSS or STATA, NVIVO, Dedoose, and/or similar products is preferred
Typical Hiring Range $68,124.73 - $99,603.05 How is pay for new employees determined at GW?
