Campus Safety - Student Guard (FWS/NFWS)

Grand Canyon University is seeking a Guard to support the mission of Grand Canyon University through GCU's Campus Safety department.

Purpose Within the Organization:

The purpose of the Campus Safety Student Guard position is the assist with GCU's Public Safety Department's duties to keep the campus safe.

Responsibilities:

• Patrol campus and respond to calls to open and/or secure buildings
• Answer phone calls, screen walk-ins and direct traffic to campus locations and check for appropriate decals at various campus entry points
• Assist with special details, such as placing barricades and assisting vehicle traffic control
• Student Workers will shadow and assist Public Safety Guards as needed
• Last hour of shift the student worker will rove and not be placed in a booth or a duty that requires a stand by

Equipment Used and Responsibility:

You will be provided a shirt, a pair of pants, a jacket (in season), and a hat. Your responsibility would be to keep them laundered and obtain a comfortable pair of shoes.

Qualifications:

• Must be a freshman or sophomore
• Criminal Justice major preferred
• Must be punctual with little to no absences
• Must be customer service oriented; positive, friendly and outgoing personality

Experience/Education:
Grand Canyon University is committed to a student first policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:

• Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s program or Master’s program.
• Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
• Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.

You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.

Physical Requirements:

• Standing up to 10 hours a day
• Begin working shift as early as 6am
• End working shift as late as 10pm
• Lifting Occasionally
• Walking could be continuously depending on need of the department
• Carrying Occasionally
• Driving carts rarely (Driver License Required)
• Work Environment: Outside for all shifts
  

Pay Rate: Minimum Wage
