Summary of Duties:

The Campus Safety Officer position on the WSU Everett Campus is responsible for performing general duty security work to protect life and property, enforcing laws and ordinances, maintaining order, and preventing and investigating crime. Adhere to and enforce campus regulations and local, state, and federal laws and statues. Miscellaneous correspondence, interpretation and application of various regulations, codes, and statutes pertaining to public safety and parking. Serve as the primary safety and security contact for the campus when commissioned officers are unavailable. Monitor crime reports and maintain log of criminal activity on and near campus facilities for inclusion on annual security report. Perform operational checks of safety equipment. Additionally, this position performs a variety of general building maintenance duties on the WSU Everett Campus.


Required Qualifications:

  • High School graduation or equivalent; possession of a valid driver’s license; no previous felony convictions; AND two years of full-time college in police science; OR two years of police or campus security experience; OR equivalent education/experience.

  • Must have the ability to work flexible hours that includes evenings, weekends.

  • While using a private vehicle for official business, the successful candidate must have current automobile liability insurance (meeting the requirements described in RCW 46.30.020  and RCW 46.29.090  ).

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license.

  • Position requires the ability to perform heavy, outside work in inclement weather.

  • Within the first six months of initial hire, obtain certification in defensive techniques and equipment. Periodic re-certification to maintain currency is required.

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain within the first six months of hire, first aid certification.

  • This position has been designated by the department to require a background check, motor vehicle records check, and WSP WATCH.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in law enforcement or security.

  • Knowledge of parking and public safety operations.

  • Knowledge of general landscaping maintenance.

  • Experience working in a diverse environment.

Monthly Salary: Range 46 | $3,734 - $4,892 | (Step A through L) Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
