Essential Functions
  • Oversees the day-to-day operations, policies, procedures, and supervision of Campus Recreation facilities including the Recreation and Wellness Center, SportsPlex, and Intramural Fields. This includes working directly with the events coordinator, building specialist staff, maintenance staff, and program areas to maintain the cleanliness and safety of the facilities.
  • Assists with the planning and review of programs, strategies, events, and schedules for all Campus Recreation facilities, including assisting with the implementation of departmental risk management strategies and emergency response exercises and trainings.
  • Monitors the informal recreation budget, ensuring that policies and procedures are followed, and that proper staffing for informal recreation employees and proper inventory levels are maintained for supplies, and equipment.
  • Oversees fitness equipment, sports rental equipment, and cleaning supplies for recreational services. Tracks sales and inventory of items at the RWC equipment desk, SportsPlex checkout desk, and student supply areas. Works with Maintenance Staff on promptly resolving facility maintenance needs.
  • Coordinates the personnel management of approximately one hundred student staff employees, which includes the recruiting, hiring, scheduling, supervising, evaluating, and mentoring of all staff members.
  • Develops action plans to maximize activity space offerings and recreational equipment that enhances member satisfaction and increases active usage numbers.
  • Compiles statistical data and provides and maintains reports used in the assessment and revision of goals, policies, and procedures. Delivers presentations to professional staff on findings.
  • Oversees the development, implementation, and monitoring of short and long-range plans for informal recreation spaces within Campus Recreation facilities that is consistent with the mission of the university and goals of the Division of Student Affairs.
  • May provide administrative support for Campus Recreation which may include payroll verification, coordination of special equipment requests, and record keeping.

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Recreation Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Direct personnel management experience of a large collegiate recreation student staff, including experience recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating
  • Experience with recreational facility operations in higher education
  • Knowledge in facility management software, such as Innosoft Fusion, staff scheduling software, such as When To Work, and timekeeping software such as Kronos
  • American Red Cross First Aid/AED/CPR Instructor Certified
