Job Description
Campus Ministers at Boston College promote The University’s Jesuit, Catholic mission by working collaboratively to offer the University community multiple and regular opportunities for worship, retreats, service immersion, and pastoral care.
Campus Ministers assist in the coordination of weekly student liturgies, major University-wide Masses, and prayer services. Campus Ministers also work in partnership on other Mission and Ministry initiatives, as well as other University initiatives, focusing predominantly on the intellectual, social, and faith formation of undergraduate students. This ministry requires the ability to provide both pastoral care and spiritual guidance to students and others within the University community.
Additionally, each Campus Minister maintains responsibility for administering a specific departmental program. The key responsibility for this position is management and development of the Arrupe International Immersion Program (“Arrupe”). The program introduces students to key tenants of Catholic Social Teaching through a year-long formation process that includes a winter-break trip abroad.
Pertinent responsibilities include developing, improving, and maintaining the overall infrastructure for Arrupe; integrating Ignatian spirituality and Catholic Social Teaching principles into programing; establishing and developing relationships with partner organizations abroad; facilitating the recruitment and selection of participants; overseeing the selection and ongoing formation of student leaders and adult mentors (faculty, staff, and graduate students involved in the program); managing programs budgets and fundraising campaigns, and supervising graduate assistants.
