Job Description:

The Kansas City University (KCU) Center for Population Health and Equity (CPHE) is seeking applicants for a full-time Campus Director to lead efforts at KCU’s Joplin campus. The Campus Director will manage and champion activities within KCU’s Transformational, Interprofessional Center, which includes academic, research, clinical service, and community outreach initiatives designed to improve population health and health equity. The Campus Director will also assist in the development of the CPHE’s strategic mission, cultivate relationships across Joplin and surrounding areas, and work collaboratively with the Kansas City campus to ensure alignment and coordination.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with a passion for advancing the practice of population health, engaging with community-based organizations, and developing innovative programs to transform policy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as critical member of CPHE leadership team, strategizing approaches to driving systems-level change to improve health and health equity
  • Inventory current KCU-Joplin academic, research, clinical service, and community outreach activities that address population health and health equity
  • Provide campus-specific direction and context to the development, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives to improve the organization’s population health and equity
  • Partner with operational leaders to conduct evidence-based improvement efforts that support population health and health equity
  • Design and implement quality improvement projects to support high-quality student volunteer opportunities
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels within CPHE and with other KCU departments
  • Identify trends and make recommendations or changes to existing programs to reflect organizational needs
  • Regularly monitor health outcomes that impact Joplin and the surrounding areas
  • Supervise and lead a team of staff members in alignment with CPHE and KCU goals
  • Assist in grant application preparation and management
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the organization

Other and Supportive Functions:

  • Maintain professional relationships with public health, community health, and private health care organizations
  • Maintain awareness of federal and state-imposed laws and regulations relevant to population health and equity
  • Stay abreast of trends and emerging strategic opportunities in the areas of population health, health equity and health outcomes and health-related technological advancements
  • Pursue population health research efforts where appropriate
  • Demonstrate fiscal responsibility through effective budget management
  • Other administrative tasks (i.e., filing, preparing documentation)
  • Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems
  • Actively participate in team and University meetings

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in health professions (MD/DO, DMD, PhD, PharmD, DPH, or equivalent), advanced practice degree (DNP, PA, or equivalent), or clinical degree with additional graduate credentials (RN/MPH, RN/MBA, or equivalent)
  • Applicable clinical licensure in Missouri preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years clinical practice experience preferred
  • Evidence of commitment to improving population health and health equity as demonstrated by work experience, research, thought leadership, and/or publications
  • Strong passion for population health and health equity and understanding of the latest evidence-based research to the area
  • Substantial administrative and program-building experience
  • Demonstrated leadership as an innovator, convener, ambassador, collaborator, partner and catalyst in mobilizing leaders from various institutional and community sectors around shared goals
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to a wide range of disciplines, interests, and constituencies represented at KCU and a deep commitment to population health and equity as part of its public mission
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to mentor and coach associates to continuously improve their performance and achieve positive outcomes for themselves, as well as for the programs they serve
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and to work effectively and harmoniously with associates at all levels of the organization
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with an ethnically, socio-economically, and socially diverse workforce
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and other office technologies that support office efficiency

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate a keyboard and other office equipment, use a telephone, access file cabinets and other items stored at various levels, including overhead
  • Ability to speak and hear well enough to communicate clearly and understandably with sufficient volume to ensure an accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance, over the telephone, and in a group setting
  • Ability to continuously operate a personal computer for extended periods of time (4 or more hours)
  • Mental acuity sufficient to collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, make valid judgments and decisions
