Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Camp Manager to serve as the lead administrative coordinator and manage all aspect of Mason Gross School of the Arts summer camps, institutes, and intensives. The Camp Manager is responsible for upholding guidelines and standards to ensure a safe environment for all camp participants.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Works closely with the Rutgers Community Arts administration to coordinate all aspects of summer camps; including but not limited to camp activities, performances, daily schedules, camper check-in/out procedures, facility and dormitory access, and transportation.
  • Develops and implements best practices for safety, including adhering to NJ state guidelines for summer camps and enforcing RCA summer policies and Rutgers Protection of Minors and Covid-19 policies, works closely with medical staff to document any injuries or incidents that occur on campus, and additional duties as needed.
  • Works directly with camp directors and lead counselors to provide on-the-ground logistical support during camps.
  • Provides customer service and marketing assistance as needed to support summer camps.
COVID-19 Immunization Requirement
Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.  Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility .  Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine .  Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent, and/or up to 4 years of relevant office, clerical, bookkeeping, library assistant or related experience depending on the duties to be performed.
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver’s license would be required for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associates degree or Bachelor degree.
  • Knowledge of and a background in the arts.
  • Strong customer service experience.
  • Experience in operations or event management.
  • Interest in community engagement.

  • Must be able to lift and carry camper luggage, rearrange furniture, carry oversized instruments and artworks, and set up dining tables as needed.
