Description of Work Unit
Youth Sport Camps is part of the Department of Health and Exercise Science. 
We offer 16 summer-long, active lifestyle camps. From baseball to dance to multi-sport experiences, our camps offer something for everyone. Our goal is to ensure all our campers enjoy a fun-filled, active summer. 
 
The Department of Health and Exercise Science (HES) is one of eight academic programs in the College of Health and Human Sciences. Colorado State University is Colorado’s land grant institution and holds the Doctoral/Research University – Extensive classification from the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education. Health and Exercise Science is focused on a three-part mission of undergraduate and graduate teaching, research and scholarly work and outreach/engagement/service. We are committed to our goal of producing nationally and internationally recognized research programs and graduates that are focused on helping people protect and improve their health and quality of life throughout the lifespan. The Department has ~1150 undergraduate majors, 30-35 M.S. and Ph.D. students, 10-12 academic and research staff and 25 faculty members. Faculty in the Department of Health and Exercise Science have a strong commitment to high-quality teaching and advising and conduct innovative research with an emphasis on basic, translational, and clinical work to prevent aging-related disease and disability and maximize human functional performance. The Human Performance Clinical Research Laboratory, the research hub for HES, is a CSU Program of Research and Scholarly Excellence and a center for interdisciplinary research, training, and outreach. HES also has a strong focus on community engagement, including a First Responder Heart Disease Prevention Program, Adult Fitness Program, Noon Hour Fitness Program, Youth Sports Camps and an After-School program.

Position Summary
Seeking self-motivated, multi-tasking, organized, candidates who enjoy working with youth in week long camps focused on health, exercise and sport. May work 40hrs/week, must be available M – F from 8:30am – 4:30pm It is not necessary to work every week, but full weeks are required. 
 
Job Responsibilities include: 
  • Management of camp including creating camp itinerary, organizing equipment, running drills and games or matches, monitoring campers 
  •  Maintain confidentiality, be punctual, and communicate changes in work schedule. 
  •  Ability to work inclusively in a diverse setting.
Position Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of specific sports or movement 
  • Work cohesively with other camp counselors TW
  • Demonstrate integrity, honesty, dependability, responsibility 
  • Use available resources to manage campers and situations 
  • Demonstrate situational judgement, motivate and encourage participation to work towards a shared purpose
Preferred Qualifications
- Playing or coaching experience in specific sport(s) or movement
