Summary of Duties:

The CAHNRS Research Services Manager will direct and oversee the grant and contract administration process for the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS). The College includes Academic Programs, the CAHNRS Office of Research (COR), and WSU Extension.


Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the College level review and approval of proposals and awards

  • Working with the Finance Director to establish College level grant and contract administration policies and procedures

  • Coordinating state-funded grant programs; coordinate endowment proposal and award processes

  • Serving as the College liaison to the Office of Research Support and Operations (ORSO) and Sponsored Program Services (SPS)

  • Managing program Extension pre & post-award Supervising the Pullman based Research and Extension Grant Team

  • Provide leadership to CAHNRS System Wide Research Community through training and coordinated communication

  • Training research and extension grant staff; Providing grant support and training to Research and Extension Center grant staff

  • Coordinating Memoranda of Understanding and fiscal arrangements with commodity commissions.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and four (4) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience.

  • Proven record of successfully managing teams, and fostering a collaborative work environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with grants administration including pre and post award processing.

  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team and independently;

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and present relevant training.

Monthly Salary:

$4,942.10 - $7,569.55


In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 , the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
