Job Summary

Dallas College is seeking goal-oriented, student-centered leaders with a proven track record of strengthening pathway supports and completion outcomes for diverse student populations in a dynamic and fast-paced higher education environment. The Specialist, Pathway is a student success-centered role responsible for providing comprehensive academic, transfer, and career pathway programming and resources.

This position is responsible for delivering accurate, School-specific academic, career and transfer resources and pathway programming that promotes student pathway persistence, credential completion, transfer, and employment. This role is responsible for ensuring the development and delivery of accurate, student-facing, school-specific pathway, transfer, and career mapping. In addition, this role supports academics and associated faculty in School of specific programming and initiatives both inside and outside of the classroom. Position leverages technology to effectively input, monitor and track School and pathway specific data that supports Division, School, and College goals. Position collaborates closely Success Coaches and associated faculty to collectively provide appropriate interventions that promote timely on-track credential completion, job placement and/or transfer to a four-year college/university for Dallas College Students.

This position will support School-specific pathway planning, persistence, and completion for Dallas College students.

• Responsible for ensuring the delivery of accurate, school-specific pathway, transfer and career mapping for Dallas College students.

• Responsible for providing precise credential, career, and transfer support for student-selected pathways.

• Responsible for collaborating with faculty, Success Coaches, marketing, and key stakeholders to develop and promote pathways for all students, including special populations such as non-credit, dual credit, first-time in college, developmental education, part-time, full-time, veteran, ESL/ESOL, Adult Basic Education, and transfer.

• Responsible for serving as the liaison for faculty and Success Coaches with wrap-around support for student success.

• Responsible for facilitating School-specific academic program, career and transfer training, resources and pathway programming that promote student pathway persistence, credential completion, transfer, and employment.

• Responsible for assessing program outcomes and tracking student pathway progress toward completion.

• Leverage’s technology to input, monitor and track initiatives focused on student pathway completion.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of the purpose of community colleges and the vision of Dallas College.

• Ability to identify and address opportunities and challenges that arise as a result of Dallas College’s current transformation.

• Demonstrate a depth of knowledge of academic advising, academic planning, degree audit, Guided Pathways, career development, and transfer.

• Demonstrate detail-oriented precision in reviewing and mapping student academic, career, and transfer milestones.

• Be proficient in the use of quantitative and qualitative data to inform service delivery improvement resulting in an improved student experience and student success outcomes.

• Demonstrate experience in coordinating and delivering presentations to staff, faculty and students and executing goal-oriented tasks.

• Demonstrate experience with emerging technologies and the effective application of service technologies to enhance academic planning, and engagement with students.

• Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of program evaluation and student outcome assessment.

• Demonstrate experience using technology to input, track and monitor program and student outcomes.

• Demonstrate experience effectively communicating, team building, and working collaboratively with diverse academic, workforce and student success partners.

• Respond appropriately to issues in a dynamic rapidly changing educational/economic environment.

• Demonstrate experience in enhancing pathway supports and equitable student success.

• Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion to create a sense of belonging and address historic and systemic inequities for student success.

• Exhibit an ability to work effectively and collaboratively with administration, faculty, students, staff, and other constituent groups and partners, both within and outside a college or university with diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.  

• Demonstrate experience effectively engaging and supporting students in a remote work environment.

• Strong time management, organization, problem-solving, and communication skills, with an emphasis on verbal and writing skills that effectively communicate complex ideas with clarity and precision.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver accurate, School-specific academic, career and transfer information, resources and pathway programming that promotes student pathway persistence, credential completion, transfer, and employment.

• Collaborate regularly with Success Coaches, Degree Audit, Career and Transfer Skill Development, Academic, associated faculty, Workforce, and other Student Success partners to promote student pathway persistence, credential completion, transfer, and employment.

• Collaborate with faculty and Success Coaches to create a seamless student connection between the continuous and holistic support of the Student Success Coach and the pathway-specific expertise of the Pathway Specialist.

• Collaborate with Student Success, Academics and Workforce partners to strengthen student pathway options, resources, and services.

• Coordinate and implement equity-minded strategies aimed at ensuring pathway exploration, engagement, and success for historically marginalized and underserved student populations.

• Develop and deliver Pathway Success programming that supports faculty, staff and student awareness of pathway options, resources, and services.

• Ensure regulatory compliance with Dallas College, state, and federal requirements.

• Meet institutional and departmental goals by executing and tracking assigned activities and evaluating outcomes.

• Prepare and present reports and leverage technology to track and monitor progress; keeps detailed records of assigned activities.

• Participate in required professional development to ensure current knowledge of internal and external resources and services.

• Leverage emerging technology to maintain systemic efficiencies in the delivery and tracking of communications, services, programming, and experiences.

• Ensure high-quality customer service and care.

• Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• ·Associates degree plus three (3) years of experience in a related field. Five years of related experience may be substituted for an Associate degree. Official transcripts required.

• Minimum two (2) years of experience in a higher education setting with demonstrated experience in academic advising, Guided Pathways, academics, career development, transfer services, or an industry specific area aligning with the Dallas College Schools.

• Ability to work extended hours beyond the regular 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. workday especially during heavy registration peak times including nights and weekends.

• Current and valid Texas driver’s license required.
