Summary of Job Duties:

The Buyer holds a key role in the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture, overseeing the procurement of commodities and services. As the primary point of contact for purchasing inquiries, the Buyer conducts research to address issues and escalates matters as needed. Core responsibilities include processing purchase requisitions and converting them into Purchase Orders, as well as assisting and training Division of Agriculture personnel on Workday procurement tasks. The position operates within the framework of state and federal laws as well as agency policy, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus two years of experience in a purchasing environment or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of purchasing principles, procedures, and methods. Knowledge of state and university purchasing laws and regulations. Knowledge of market conditions and resources in an assigned field. Ability to research and draft clear, concise, and competitive purchasing specifications and evaluate product acceptability and/or quality. Ability to perform basic mathematical computations. Ability to maintain accurate and systematic procurement records. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with purchasing agents/officials, vendors, and manufacturers. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
