Summary

Obtains materials from suppliers at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need. Studies market trends, interviews vendors, and recommends sources of supply. Analyzes quotations received, selects and recommends suppliers. Create requisitions in M-pathways and follows up to expedite delivery and shipment if needed. Obtains certifications of delivery and conducts check against order.  Receives parts in CE Asset Management software.  Checks and approves invoices for orders placed. Develops and maintains necessary records and files for efficient operation. Maintains par levels on frequently used repair parts, tracks and follows up on credits due to the department, monitors open orders and follows up with vendors as appropriate, reconciles invoices in CE Asset Management software, manages purchases with company credit card, sets up return authorization and shipment of devices needing repair, receives orders and notifies staff of their arrival, sets up accounts with online ordering portals, works with Supplier Maintenance to add vendors to M-Pathways.

Required Qualifications*

5 - 8 years of professional experience. Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of particular field of specialization to the completion of difficult assignments. Usually works with minimum supervision, conferring with superior on unusual matters. Assignments are broad in nature, usually requiring originality and ingenuity. Employees in this classification typically analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree. Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level, salary basis, and duties tests


Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
