Job Overview

Under general supervision from a designated administrator, serves as systems liaison between the education, research, and administrative functions of the university and Business Core Systems (BCS) to help business units achieve their desired business goals.


Essential Functions
  • Collaborate with business partners with one or more business process to align technology solutions with business strategies
  • Support one or more highly complex business processes
  • Establish and maintain liaison relationship with business partners and BCS in order to provide effective technical solutions
  • Conduct data gathering and analysis to understand business strategy requirements
  • Contributes to and may provide direction for the business short and long-term planning sessions and provides direction to ensure understanding of business goals
  • Provides relevant feedback and input from both a business-related and IT perspective
  • Assesses client needs utilizing a structured requirements process to assist in identifying business priorities and provides viable business solutions to the client
  • Develops, writes, and communicates business requirements and functional specifications for the implementation of business solutions
  • Analyze client operations to understand their particular business objectives and determine opportunities for improvement
  • Assists in the business process redesign and documentation as needed for new technology
  • May provide factual content to feasibility study for standard development projects and enhancements
  • Provides assistance in business case development
  • May assist in defining quality guidelines and standards
  • Checks for compliance with all standards, policies and procedures
  • Develops user test cases, validates test results during testing, executes test cases, and reviews test plans
  • Monitor testing process to ensure business results are adequately tested with minimal risk; ensures test strategies involve appropriate integration and process components
  • Investigates and troubleshoots client and user issues, identifies technical needs, and develops recommendations for resolution
  • May troubleshoot existing information systems to identify errors or deficiencies and develops solutions
  • Plans and perform on-going routine application maintenance tasks
  • Keep clients informed of problems, issues, and resolutions
  • Analyzes performance metrics to ensure client satisfaction
  • Manage client expectations
  • Partners with external vendors and/or consultants to resolve issues and develop solutions
  • Documents functions and changes to new or modified modules and test activities/results and additional areas
  • Assists in the development of user guides and training documentation for systems
  • Coaches and transfers knowledge to less experienced team members

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or other related field with 5 years of technical or business related experience – OR – Associate’s degree in a related field with 7 years of technical or business related experience –OR – 9 years relevant technical or business related work experience
  • Requires demonstrated experience and in-depth knowledge of business operations and systems requirements processes

Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or any work order/work ticket type system.
  • Familiarity with maintenance activities and/or workflows
  • Familiarity with JavaScript
  • Experience as a trainer
  • Call center or help desk experience
