Job Description

Responsible for a combination of specialized business functions requiring a high degree of independent judgment in the area of computerized business systems. Serves as a subject matter expert for computerized business applications in use in the department. 

Duties

  • Performs system administrative functions for business systems in use in the department, including, for example, AiM, Simple K, WinEst, and Microsoft Project.
  • Coordinates and updates key data, including system security records, used in making managerial decisions for the department.
  • Communicates by phone and in person, representing the department using tact and independent judgment.
  • Performs a wide variety of record keeping and reporting functions.
  • Establishes and maintains business systems including coding material to be entered.
  • Determines and resolves data processing problems and coordinates the work with programmers, users, etc.
  • Provides on-call support and problem resolution for computer applications.
  • Trains other departmental personnel in the use of computerized business systems.
  • Produces reports of a routine and specialized nature.
  • Completes special projects as required.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree, AND

  • 12 months experience as a Systems Analyst or in a similar position.

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 60 months related experience.

  • Ability to manage multiple, parallel activities and organize time and resources

Department Preference:

  • Computerized business systems
  • Working with databases
  • Integrated management application (AiM) or similar software
  • Writing Java code
  • Composing MySQL scripting
  • Data integration tools (Pentaho, etc)
  • Database reporting tools (Crystal Reports, BIRT, etc)
  • Uses creativity in composing or presenting oral or written communication
  • Basic math
  • Thorough working knowledge of desktop and business computer systems and understanding of database concepts

Working Conditions: 

  • Physical: Sit for prolonged periods of time. Ability to engage in repetitive motion. Manual dexterity. Communicate effectively and listen.Stooping, bending, and occasional lifting (up to 25lb), hearing - in person and on telephone, climbing stairs. 
  • Environmental: Office Work Environment. Frequent exposer to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods. Eyestrain from excessive use of computers.
