Position Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to maximize third-party payers and maintain compliance with Ryan White federal and state grant requirements. This employee will conduct a financial need assessment on all patients in HIV care at UNC ID Clinic biannually (and other times as needed). This employee will determine the level of patient financial need and, where appropriate, coordinate with and among various applicable benefit programs and systems for which the patient may be eligible. Such programs include, but are not limited to: UNC Faculty Physicians and UNC Hospitals payment arrangement services, UNC Charity Care, UNC Hospitals Pharmacy Assistance Program, UNC Dental Clinic Assistance Program, North Carolina AIDS Drugs Assistance Program, pharmaceutical company assistance programs, copay assistance programs, social work and pharmacy referral programs. This employee will also counsel the patients on financial responsibility and provide education on the complexity of insurance and other financial aid programs for which they are eligible. Where applicable, referrals for Medicaid, Medicare Part D, and other public or private insurance plans will be made to the appropriate agencies. The employee may participate in extensive tracking to ensure compliance with established regulations.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Working knowledge of computer technology and business office equipment is required. Competency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook required as well as strong interpersonal and organization skills. Ability to work in a fast paced, busy clinic environment with diverse populations.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Prior experience in working in an clinical setting with diverse populations or an HIV/AIDS care is preferred. Spanish fluency in speaking and writing is beneficial
