Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The Campus Community Centers is a unit of the Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity (OIED). It is comprised of the following centers: African American Cultural Center, GLBT Center, Multicultural Student Affairs and NC State Women’s Center. With offices in Talley Student Union and Witherspoon Student Center, this unit develops intentional learning experiences focused on social identity, culture and social justice, providing many opportunities for students to learn, develop and find a place to belong. Through various programs and services, these Centers work together to foster community, assist students with their transition to college, help students develop their leadership potential persist and succeed.

Essential Job Duties

The Business Services Coordinator will provide overall program administration to the campus community centers, the Bias Incident Response Team and other institutional diversity and inclusion initiatives. Responsibilities of this position will range from performance of financial duties to standardized office support assignments for the unit. This position is responsible for assisting with day-to-day operations, coordinating administrative functions of the unit, providing support for several university committees, assisting with coordination and implementation of large-scale events and providing administrative support to the senior director and other unit staff.

Other Work/Responsibilities

The position will also perform other work-related duties as assigned, including but not limited to:
-Serve as general administrative support for senior director and other unit staff
-Order and maintain office supplies (as needed)
-Assist with LanTech and other technical requests
-Maintain office equipment inventory
-Serve as backup to building liaison issues (as needed)

Minimum Experience/Education

Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Departmental Required Skills

-Experience working with organizations that address issues of identity, culture, gender and/or social justice
-Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to build collaborative partnerships with diverse stakeholders
-Must possess “team” orientation and demonstrate commitment to collaborative work within, across and outside the community Centers
-Must be willing to engage in the issues of gender, race, class, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, etc.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

-Bachelor’s Degree preferred
-Familiarity with higher education and/or state government regulations and budgeting are preferred
-Experience with program design and implementation is important
-Experience with marketing and fundraising is preferred
-Writing and editing skills and comfort with public speaking is helpful
