Job Summary
The Business Operations Manager [working title] is responsible for managing staff, developing policies and procedures, ensuring customer satisfaction, managing budgets, and ensuring that UTA and state policies and procedures are followed. Oversees the administrative staff of the College’s Shared Services Team. Responsible for creating, standardizing, and maintaining the policies and procedures in the College. Prepares reports and presentations. Works on special projects as directed by the Dean. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee all facets of the daily operations and business practices of the COLA’s Shared Services Team.
  • Responsibilities include enforcement of internal procedures and controls, problem resolution, evaluation of performance, and motivating staff to achieve peak productivity and performance.
  • Assist the departments with the development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with those of the University to ensure efficient and optimal operation of the unit.
  • Analyzes internal processes and recommends procedural changes to improve Shared Service operations.
  • Assists in the documentation of best practices and training guides/job aids. Implements and monitors changes.
  • Create standardized processes for delivering established administrative support services.
  • Work with the team to implement and continuously improve the delivery of administrative services and processes.
  • Recommend changes to services to better meet customer needs and problem resolution.
  • Ensure adequate staffing for workload and manage staff augmentation as needed.
  • Assists the College Business Officer with reporting, surveys, and special projects.
  • Oversee the management of administrative projects and event deadlines.
  • Prepares reports and presentations.
  • Works on special projects for the College leadership team.
  • Resolve conflicts escalated to college leadership.
  • Oversee and manage all CoLA centralized HR procedures, including hiring, terminations, resignations, funding changes, reclassifications, salary changes, payroll reconciliations, and HR reporting.
  • Must stay abreast of all UTA policies and procedures to serve as backup to any staff member and train new members.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a relevant field of study with five (5) years of business operations, including at least three (3) years of employee supervision or equivalent relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous higher education experience.
