The Business Operations Analyst reports to the Senior Director, Research Strategy and Operations for the College of Medicine (COM) and partners closely with the Associate Dean for Research and Compliance and other COM leaders to manage several different business operations within the Office of Research. Key responsibilities include outside activities and conflict of interest disclosures, effort certification, research offboarding, and the Non-Clinical Incentive Program. In all work, the team member ensures the integrity and security of confidential information.

  • Outside Activities and Conflicts of Interest : Ensures timely review of employee outside activities and financial relationships and management of conflicts of interest in compliance with regulations and policies. Prepares recommendations for review by leadership and communicates plans and objectives with employees. Maintains complete and accurate program records. Monitors government and institutional policies and assesses impact and proactively plans and coordinates response, in partnership with leadership. Manages the electronic conflict of interest (eCOI) process for the COM and Office of Health Sciences (OHS), including review and approval. Ensures all eCOI disclosures are completed and analyzes disclosures to identify unreported consulting activity for follow-up.
  • Effort Certifications : Manages research effort certification for COM employees, tracking progress and generating reports. Communicates with employees to ensure timely certification of effort. Trains faculty and staff on effort certification administrative processes and procedures.
  • Non-Clinical Incentive Program (NCIP) : Communicates with employees to ensure timely and accurate NCIP data entry. Works closely with data analytics team to monitor and analyze time commitment of faculty across consulting, effort certification, and PAAs to determine conflicts in NCIP data.
  • Research Offboarding : Oversees and manages research offboarding program in collaboration with the Associate Dean for Research Operations and Compliance, ensuring alignment with applicable programs and procedures.

Minimum Required Education

Bachelor's degree in business administration or other related field, or equivalent experience

Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business administration or other related field, or equivalent experience; minimum of 2 years relevant work experience. Requires successful completion of a background check. The selected candidate may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.

Additional Desired Qualifications

2-4 years of relevant work experience preferred; considerable knowledge of university and college policies, rules, and regulations.
