Business Office Specialist

Franklin University has an opening for a Business Office Specialist who is responsible for providing excellent customer service to our internal student facing offices while assisting with resolving their balances. The Business Office Specialist is also responsible for providing knowledgeable responses to inquiries regarding students' financial obligations to the University, taking into consideration their registration status, possible financial aid awards and the University's financial policies and procedures. This position requires broad knowledge regarding University policies and procedures in Admissions, the Registrar's Office, and Financial Aid in order to successfully assist customers. 

Duties include receiving and posting payments to University/student accounts; responding to inquiries from other departments and educating them on potential resolutions; reconciling daily deposit activity; maintaining information for an audit trail; researching and resolving discrepancies; developing student account reports for analysis and distribution to leadership; billing and maintaining accounts receivable for students; analyzing student accounts taking into consideration all available information; updating restrictions on accounts, as needed; and issuing refunds in accordance with University procedures and guidelines.  Other duties will include accurately and timely invoicing third party billing; following up on delinquent accounts and reconciling to the general trial balance.

This would be a remote position.

We seek someone with an Associate's degree in Accounting with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting being preferred.  The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of previous cash management experience and functional experience with Colleague or another student relational database.  The position requires someone with the ability to relate well and communicate with University staff, students and the public.  The selected individual must have strong attention to detail, be accurate, proficient in problem solving and decision making, have highly developed analytical and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.  Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office suite of products is also required.  Familiarity with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) would be a plus in this position.
