Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Business Manager reports to the Director of the Counseling Center and helps manage a 6 million dollar budget. The Business Manager is responsible for the Counseling Center’s financial operations and personnel management. Specific duties include budget management, monthly financial reports, oversight of expenditures and account transfers, account reconciliation, detailed budget analysis and projections. The Business Manager also manages procurement purchases, scholarship awards and grants, prepares travel requests for approval, and informs and advises the Director on budgetary and financial matters.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience:
3 years of experience in finance, accounting, project management, grant management, or other related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proficient in Excel and Google Sheets to create, update and analyze complex spreadsheets.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, manage multiple concurrent tasks, and detail-oriented.
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, reconciliation, and revenue tracking.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and team building skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent written, verbal, and listening skills.
  • Ability to analyze and summarize financial information.
Preferences:
Preferred Education:
Degree in accounting or finance.
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience in the use of CONCUR Travel Management System, Personnel and Human Resource (PHR) systems.
  • Experience managing financial information and services in an academic/higher education setting.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong communication and analytical skills and the ability to work well with the peer group and all levels of the campus hierarchy.
  • Working knowledge of the Kuali Financial System (KFS), Procurement Card and Travel Card policies and regulations.
  • Skill in the use of spreadsheet and word-processing programs as well as general office oriented systems.
  • Familiarity with the Budget Preparation & Maintenance (BPM) system and Workday Enterprise Management System.
