Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Business Manager will serve as the primary administrator for the Meyerhoff Center for Jewish Studies and the Gildenhorn Institute for Israel Studies. This position will manage all financial activities for the units. Position will maintain, reconcile, and prepare reports for all departmental accounts, including state, DRIF, revolving, grant, and foundation accounts; prepare, monitor, and report on departmental budget execution; manage all UMCPF, USMF, and Common Trust foundation accounts; process personnel actions and payroll for the unit, including preparation of visa applications for foreign nationals; assist in planning and developing budgets for special events; ensure timely payment of vendor invoices; work with ARHU Development to maintain new donor relationships and research potential grant and funding opportunities; assist faculty with pre-award proposal submittal; process student scholarships; and fulfill other tasks as assigned by the Director. Schedule flexibility and willingness to work some nights and weekends for departmental events as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required with a concentration in Business Management, Accounting, Finance, or a related area of concentration.

Experience:

5 years of progressively responsible experience in budgeting, accounting, payroll, purchasing, and personnel work.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated experience in summarizing, analyzing, and reporting financial information.
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial management, accounting principles, budget development, and budget reporting.
  • Clearly demonstrated organizational, data management, and administrative skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Windows, Excel, and web-based applications- Demonstrated ability to implement and use technological tools
Preferences:
Preferences: 
  • Master’s degree preferred in related field
  • Experience using University of Maryland College Park business systems, including KFS, PHR, BPM, Priority/BA’s, KR, TCMS, PCMS.
  • Experience managing Financial information and services in an academic /higher education setting.
  • Experience managing foundation accounts.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision in a multi-tasking environment.
  • Ability to effectively interact with a diverse student body, faculty and staff while fostering an environment of inclusion and equity.

Physical Demands
