Job Overview

The College of Medicine, Department of Surgery is recruiting a Business Manager Finance.  This position will support the Department’s tripartite missions of teaching, research and clinical care while assuring excellence in overall financial performance and strategy.

 

The Business Manager Finance will support The Chairman of Surgery and The Executive Director of Business and Administration in the financial management of the Department. They will be responsible for financial planning, financial analysis, targeted resource management and optimization for the College of Medicine, Department of Surgery, University of Cincinnati Physicians Surgery Faculty Practice plan and UC Health Ambulatory Surgery Clinical Practice Sites.  They will be responsible for building and maintaining budgets for over 20 individual business entities, assuring accurate financial reporting and analysis, manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions for both UC and UCHealth, and oversee staff and faculty payroll functions.

 


Essential Functions
  • Manage the financial activities of a large and diversified clinical department with a considerable income generation component.
  • Support the compliance activities of the department, including research and management of an active clinical trials program, billing, etc.
  • Monitor and manage UC Physicians, Inc. provider compensation activities.
  • Coordinate annual budget preparation.
  • Provide financial analysis for monthly variance reporting.
  • Perform budget analysis and assist in the development of budgetary forecasts.
  • Prepare and assist in budget-related statistical analysis, estimates and financial reports.
  • Provide support for quarterly College of Medicine effort reporting.
  • Provide ad hoc financial reports.
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • Nine (9) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience in related activities including financial management and analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Master’s degree is ideal, with 3-5 years of experience within a medical physician group, or other healthcare organization.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using a large enterprise financial system ideal.
  • Financial planning and modeling skills.
