Job Description
General Description:
This role will develop and maintain relationships and projects with leaders in businesses, community-based non-profits, and government agencies. This role is responsible for supporting and leading specific initiatives related to NOVA’s business engagement activities in the region and in the Commonwealth.
Duties and Tasks:
The primary focus of this role will be to help regional businesses and local economic developers create and develop talent for current and projected workforce needs and will serve as a liaison between the college and the business community. With access to regional employers, the manager will promote the quality of NOVA’s students and educational offerings and connect internal stakeholders from NOVA to businesses and economic developers related to employment and educational outcomes.
Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications
Required KSAs:
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a team environment and leverage partners in public and private sectors, including local and regional economic development partners and employers.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong working relationships with high-value target companies and workforce partners through responsive customer services
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to plan and successfully manage multiple tasks
  • Proficiency in using multiple PC software packages and data analysis tools

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in marketing, business administration, economics or related degree and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Some experience with economic development, sales, marketing, and/or business development or in developing and implementing a sales and marketing plan to effectively implement partnerships

Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters Degree or Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) designation or other related industry certification.
  • Some experience with Salesforce.
  • Some project management experience.
