Position Summary
Position is responsible for maintaining accounting functions and establishing financial objectives in accordance with the department’s operational and strategic plans.


Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the accounting functions of the department, including the general ledger and financial reporting. Works with department Leadership to plan and develop the capital equipment, operations and personnel budgets. Administers and monitors defined budgets by regularly reviewing expenses, investigating variances and taking corrective action as necessary.
  • Directs the preparation of monthly reports. Reviews reports in an effort to identify trends.
  • Implements strategies to maximize reimbursement for the department. Supervises coding and charge capture group. Works with group to develop and maintain systems for charge capture, coding and data entry. Acts as primary liaison with WUSBCS.
  • Performs financial review and analysis, reimbursement analysis and budget development and analysis. Assists the department Leadership in establishing business plans.
  • Ensures effective and efficient office procedures by monitoring and evaluating progress and service of operations. Supervises staff.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to plan organize, direct people, control resources and think creatively.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills necessary.
  • Working knowledge of finance, accounting, computers and human resources.
  • Knowledge of third party reimbursement requirements including documentation and coding.
  • Ability to work effectively with a broad range of faculty, staff, students and medical school administration.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field required.
  • CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Five to seven years of experience in management/supervision of personnel/finance.

Salary Range
$82,500.00 - $145,200.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
