Job Description

The Business Development Coordinator, under general supervision, acts as a salesperson for the Master of Engineering Technical Management (METM) degree and METM Professional Development (PD) programs.  Manages other designated projects as needed.  Builds customer base for professional development short courses through traditional sales and outreach channels.


Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with Texas A&M Engineering Communications, sells and promotes the Master of Engineering Technical Management (METM) degree and METM Professional Development (PD) programs.
  • Build customer base for professional development short courses through traditional sales and outreach channels.
  • Contacts customers for direct sales.  Responds to calls and serves as point of contact for customers.
  • Works with program directors/training managers on preparing proposals to meet customer needs.
  • Attends meetings to raise awareness of the METM/PD program.
  • Ensures compliance with the Texas A&M University System and member requirements as they relate to marketing, promotion, and sales.
  • Promotes content developed by Engineering Communications for METM/PD program to align with College of Engineering strategic initiatives.
  • Works closely with Engineering Communications to develop marketing materials to meet marking and promotional needs, determine industry trends, and implement strategic local and international media outreach plans.
  • Provides input for annual budgets.
  • Writes Stories: Originates story ideas and maintains a beat, coordinating with faculty and Engineering Communications team to decipher what strategy and planning works for their messaging.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Education:

  • Master's degree

Required Experience:

  • Three years of related experience

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in multimedia/graphics design, sales, or marketing and communications
  • Experience with photography and/or videography

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of project management from conception to delivery in a timely manner and on budget
  • Knowledge of design and branding guidelines
  • Knowledge of print processing equipment and software
  • Proficiency or mastery of related applications, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to communicate ideas and concepts clearly and effectively
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and time management skills
  • Must be able to balance multiple, simultaneous priorities while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to work as a motivated self-starter
  • Ability to display initiative, a commitment to lifelong learning, and a willingness to ask questions
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and customer-service skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail, a “can do” attitude, and mental agility to work in a fast-paced environment
