Job Overview

The Dean's Business Office in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Cincinnati (UC) seeks to fill the position of Business Data Reporting Analyst. The person in this position is charged with turning data into information, information into insight, and insight into business decisions. Reporting directly to the Executive Business Officer, the person in this role performs data mining and collection and then interprets those data results using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple analysis to the creation of high-quality reports and dashboards to be used for operational and executive-level decision making. This person will gather data from a variety of internal systems, including Catalyst (the university's student information system), UC-Flex (the accounting, financial and human resources systems), etc. The person in this role also interfaces with a variety of constituents including the Dean, Associate Deans, Department Heads, and other professional staff and faculty.

 

Under general supervision form a designated administrator identifies business intelligence, reporting, and data analysis needs. Incumbent collaborates with clients and internal teams to turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound business decisions.


Essential Functions
  • Interpret results using a variety of statistical techniques
  • Work directly with clients to identify business requirements
  • Convert business requirements into developed reports
  • Relies on instruction and pre-established guidelines to perform functions of the job
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics or other related field with 1 year of business and/or ERP related experience – OR – Associate’s degree in a related field with 3 years of business and/or ERP related experience –OR – 5 years of business and/or ERP related experience
  • Basic knowledge of systems and database administration and must work well within a team environment

Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Basic knowledge of systems and database administration
  • Must work well within a team environment
  • Prior experience with UC systems (including UC-Flex, Catalyst, etc.) policies and procedures
  • Prior experience with MS-Excel, SPSS, SAS, Tableau or Microsoft Power BI is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills a must
