At Research and Development in the College of Education & Human Development, we assist in the development and submission of research proposals, coordinate award documentation and manage post-award financial activities. We provide workshops for faculty and graduate students on grant submission, grant-seeking, and create compelling, competitive proposals. What we want

We are in need of a Business Coordinator III to help us take our unit to new heights in achieving our goals. The support that this person provides is crucial to the research grants and initiatives within our College and the customers - faculty, research staff and students that we serve. Some of the duties in summary include: coordination of financial activities, budget and financial reports, cash handling, payroll and serving as a liaison. Knowledge and experience in using: financial accounting system, student information system, purchasing and traveling systems, payroll, tuition/scholarship processing and dealing with research grants are preferred. Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Four years of related experience in general office, accounting, or personnel operations

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience managing business operations and supervisory experience

  • Experience with research grants, payroll, tuition/scholarship processing, preparation of financial reports, purchasing, and travel

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), FAMIS, Aggiebuy, Concur, Compass, Maestro, Canopy, Workday, Adobe Acrobat, and iPayment

Responsibilities:

  • Coordination of Financial Activities - Serves as the primary approver for purchasing documents, travel reimbursements, and credit card statements for college and departmental accounts. Serves as a backup approver for DCRs and DBRs. Processes purchasing documents, travel reimbursements, DCRs, and DBRs as needed. Assists in monitoring incoming workload through payroll and purchasing centralized email boxes and distributes requests to staff and student workers.

  • Payroll - Plans and coordinates payroll personnel for designated departments and centers and assists with departmental payroll issues. Supervises student workers in daily responsibilities. Coordinates maintenance of unit business files, assists with records management. Implements and reviews units business procedures. Trains staff on new and existing business procedures and assists in developing procedures. Assists with the implementation of system policies/rules and procedures as it relates to business transactions. Assists with the coordination of unit inventory. Reviews biweekly and monthly Pay Calc reports. Coordinates and processes necessary payroll corrections and costing allocation modifications to correct incorrect sources.

  • Budget and Financial Reports - Prepares complex financial reports for unit administrator and principal investigators for grants by collecting business information from a variety of sources (Canopy, FAMIS, Maestro, etc). Assists the Business Administrator by obtaining information for budget reports and other financial reports required by Principal Investigators, Researchers, and research office personnel.

  • Cash Handling - Reviews cash handling procedures and department procedures for compliance with TAMU and sponsor rules and regulations. Reviews and approves iPayment AR and IDT documents. Creates iPayment documents as needed.

  • Liaison - Serves as liaison with Financial Management Services, Sponsored Research Services, as well as other CEHD and TAMU units and departments. Composes complex unit business-related correspondence as needed. Assists principal investigators and department administrators with resolving complex issues related to research grant funding. Performs other duties as assigned.
