Business Career Advisor

Creighton University is seeking to hire a Business Career Advisor for the Creighton Career Center. 

 

This is a full time, 12-month position role.  Some evenings and weekend work may be required as necessary.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Counsel and coach students and recent alumni regarding all aspects of career development, including career/major exploration, job and internship searches and preparation for graduate/professional school. Facilitate programming for students in the Career Portfolio Program, a four-year career and professional development program for students in the Heider College of Business. Advise the Creighton Business Symposium student planning team, an annual business conference that connects students, alumni, and employers.
• Assist with programs and services for students in all undergraduate colleges and alumni, employer outreach and relations, and timely publicity of internships and full-time opportunities for Heider College of Business students.
• Conduct small and large group presentations to undergraduate business students in the Career Portfolio Program regarding all aspects of the career development and job search process. May teach for-credit career development courses as needed. Present to residence hall groups, student organizations, prospective students and parents, class sessions, and community programs.      
• Advise Creighton Business Symposium student planning team and participate in all career and employer programs.

 

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources or related discipline. Master’s degree in counseling, higher education, business or other helping profession preferred.
• Experience in career counseling or human resources preferred.
• Exceptional presentation and writing skills, attention-to-detail, critical thinking skills, and ability to prioritize deadlines in a fast-paced environment required.
• A high degree of counseling acumen, some exposure to the labor market and/or business community and experience working with a diverse body of college students required.
• A significant level of technical competence with social media, online programs, and internet resources required.
