Job Summary

 

The Business Assistant for the College of Science will work collaboratively with departmental faculty, staff, students, and other business units or areas. Perform various business functions to support the fiscal management process for organizational units. Tasks include account management for departmental and sponsored program grants, procurement, travel, billing and cost center management, effort reporting, or gifts processing, loans and voluntary support. Serve as a resource for areas of responsibility. May develop financial reports and analyze and resolve or recommend action on unique problems.

This position could be filled at multiple levels (S2 or S3). The hiring manager will determine the job level based on the skills, experience, and qualifications of the selected candidate.

 

Remote work will be considered for this position based on the candidate's location and interest. However, must have the ability to come to campus as needed for meetings, training, etc.

 

 

Required:

  • HS Diploma/GED. 3 or more years of account clerk or clerical business/bookkeeping experience.
  • Experience maintaining spreadsheets and use of word processing for communication and documentation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail
  • Motivated individual with ability to efficiently multi task, work under pressure, handle frequent interruptions, prioritize workload and meet deadlines
  • Thorough and professional with ability to identify and determine problems, analyze information and implement solutions
  • Committed to professional standards in any situation, representing the University with tact and diplomacy while observing confidential information with discretion
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate in a team environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
