As the Lead Business Assistant, you will collaborate closely with faculty, staff, students, and other business units or areas performing higher-level business functions to support the fiscal management process for the School of Mechanical Engineering. Responsibilities include account management, billing, cost center management, effort reporting, and related functions.  Additionally, you may serve as subject matter expert for specific functional areas, and exercise delegated signature approval for a variety of business transactions following delegation policies. You may be involved in creating financial reports for planning, forecasting, analyzing, and projecting data for accounts. Depending on the situation, you might oversee the work of regular, temporary, and student employees, or provide backup support for the Business Manager.

Required:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Four years of office or clerical business experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Demonstrated ability to practice good time management and organizational skills and multi-task
  • Must demonstrate a willingness to learn and use own initiative to explore capabilities to enhance productivity and assume responsibility
  • Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels
  • The ability to make sound judgments and observe confidentiality 
  • Must have the ability to explain policies and procedures to staff
  • Ability to problem-solve and analyze complex issues
  • Ability to provide coaching and training to others

 

Preferred:

  • Purdue University Experience
  • Experience in SAP, Ariba, Cognos, SuccessFactors, and SEEMLESS
