Job Description

The Business Assistant I provides administrative and fiscal support functions with the Texas A&M Forest Service (TAMFS) Forest Resource Protection Division office. Such duties include the coordination of processing of FAMIS activity and travel, assisting with special projects that involve internal and external groups. This position also provides staff support for the full range of business activities that include accounting, budgeting and personnel functions that require broad knowledge of business procedures.
 

Responsibilities:

-Coordinate and review processing of FAMIS transactions, payment vouchers, mileage reports (FASTER), procurement cards (CONCUR), travel cards, travel vouchers, purchase orders and reimbursement documents for accuracy, completeness, eligibility and conformance with State statues, System policies and TAMFS procedures. Coordinate fleet and property management for division office facilities.

-Assist with special projects and assignments. Analyze requirement for projects or initiatives, coordinate and monitor action items and assist in providing solutions to recurring or unusual administrative problems.

-Serve as a professional representative of the agency. Assist with planning and coordinate logistical and administrative support for events, meetings, specialized activities, projects, long-term initiatives or new programs. Support specialized stakeholder groups and initiatives by the division.

-Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Required Education:  High school graduate or GED.

Preferred Education:  Associates degree or equivalent in business or closely related field.

Required Experience:  Minimum 1 year of experience in general office and customer service or accounting and customer service.

Preferred Experience:  1+ years of experience in general office and customer service or accounting and customer service.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Required Knowledge:  Computers and Microsoft Office applications. Basic knowledge in budgeting, accounting and FAMIS/Canopy. TAMFS operations.

Required Skills:  Strong interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills:  Demonstrated planning and organizational skills.

Required Abilities:  Sound judgement. Attention to detail. Work independently. Multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Licenses, Certificates or Registrations:

Required:  Valid Texas Driver’s license or ability to acquire one within 30 days of employment.
