The Business Analytics Specialist serves a variety of business analytics needs including data collection, database maintenance, data analysis, measurement and reporting. This position assists in the development, implementation, and ongoing use of custom reports, analysis, and market research tools. In addition to strong computer skills, core competencies include the ability to locate trends in data and turn data into user-friendly reports for various departments.


Position Description

  • Writes, maintains and supports a variety of lists and reports utilizing appropriate reporting tools.
  • Supports marketing campaigns list targeting, list generation, and effectiveness testing and reporting.
  • Identifies and analyzes trends or patterns in complex data sets to inform business decisions and communicates findings in effective visualizations and reports.
  • Assists in the creation of member segmentation tools.
  • Assists in ongoing market research efforts and development of new research tools.
  • Audits data from various systems to ensure data is collected appropriately and maintain data integrity.
  • Writes, maintains and supports a variety of custom queries for operational and researches needs for departments across the organization.
  • Provides ongoing tracking of key metrics.
  • Shares findings through effective reporting of data output to various stakeholders throughout the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

The following qualifications are the minimum threshold for which a candidate must meet in order to be considered for this role.

  • Post high school education, or equivalent work experience, in a business analyst function required.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (major in Mathematics, Statistics, Business or related field strongly preferred).
  • Advanced Excel.
  • Knowledge of query logic and/or SQL is a plus.
  • Strong ability to work with numbers and ability to communicate data insights with non-technical staff.
  • Analytical mind, able to process information logically.
  • Advanced computer software knowledge, including database queries and maintenance, and high level of comfort learning new software.
  • Highly organized with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong verbal communication and presentation abilities.

Working Conditions

Interviews for this position may be conducted via telephone and Zoom video conferencing, based on the department’s current presence on campus. 

Harvard University Employees Credit Union (HUECU) is an on-campus community, and all positions are based in Boston and Cambridge.

 The majority of jobs at HUECU are hybrid remote/office. During the initial 90-day training period, new employees may be expected to work in the office more frequently, up to full-time. When appropriate, remote work must be performed in a state in which Harvard is registered (CA, CT, GA, IL, MA, MD, ME, NH, NJ, NY, RI, VA, VT, and WA). M - F / 7.00hrs per day / 35.00hrs per week default but OT will be expected depending upon the business needs of the department. This position is OT eligible and part of the bargaining unit.
