ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
While risk management is embedded into every aspect of USF Research & Innovation (USFRI), the Institutional Research Effectiveness & Assessment (IREA) unit is specifically tasked with finding, evaluating, managing, mitigating, and preventing risks arising from engagement in sponsored research activity. Operating as the principal compliance team, IREA conducts comprehensive reviews to determine risks and potential threats to USF's research enterprise, develops appropriate methods for managing risks consistent with USF's risk tolerance, and oversees USFRI's overall risk management process for sponsored award activity. In addition to these duties, IREA is also tasked with negotiating and executing subawards, monitoring subrecipients (in concert with the PI and administrative unit personnel) and serving as the primary point of contact for external auditors. The IREA team also serves in a critical advisory capacity to Sponsored Research and USFRI's senior leadership.
POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Data Integrity Business Analyst in the higher education sector, the incumbent will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, relevance, and accessibility of research data for the university community. This includes researchers, executives, and external entities. The Business Analyst's primary responsibility will be to maintain the integrity of research data, making sure it is both meaningful and readily available. Amongst other things, the Business Analyst will be tasked with:
Developing and implementing data integrity protocols and standards to ensure the accuracy and consistency of data used for research and reporting.
Collaborating with various departments to understand their data needs and ensure that the data collected is relevant and reliable.
Conducting regular data audits to identify and correct errors, inconsistencies, or inaccuracies.
Developing and maintaining documentation related to data collection, storage, and processing procedures.
Providing training and support to colleagues and other stakeholders within USF's research community on data integrity best practices.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to collect, evaluate, and interpret data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations. Expertise investigating and analyzing problems with broad administrative impact and implications. Ability to anticipate problems and address them proactively. Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize, and present information and ideas in written or presentation form. Ability to train others on new skills and procedures and provide lead work direction.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Information Technology Analysis: Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of complex queries, reports, and analyses related to financials and other areas as assigned. Provide and promote increased utilization of financial analytics solutions as strategic assets in decision-making and program assessment.
Data Integrity Assurance: Ensure that data is accurate and consistent across the organization. Work with databases or other large pools of information, looking for errors or
inconsistencies that may have been introduced during the collection, storage, or transmission process.
Business Process Analysis: Work with the organization to find areas where performance or processes can be improved and help develop strategies to stay competitive and grow the university's research enterprise. Mine large data sets and create data visualizations to inform business decisions. Guide the organization to help it grow sustainably.
Data Quality Assurance: Ensure that data is accurate across multiple platforms through analysis, auditing, and reporting. Develop and maintain data integrity policies and procedures in alignment with organizational goals.
Report Generation, Collaboration, and Policy Development: Generate detailed reports of research activity using various data analysis tools. This includes the preparation of ad hoc reports, executive reports, as well as reports for external consumption. Work closely with other departments and stakeholders to ensure data needs are met. Develop and maintain data integrity policies and procedures in alignment with organizational goals.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a bachelor's degree in business or a related field, with at least two years of experience in a business analysis or project management role.  Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
PREFERRED:
Bachelor's degree and three years of experience in financial reporting and analysis in a business or data analysis role. Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
