SCOPE OF DEPARTMENT:
The Revenue Cycle for The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is responsible for providing excellent customer service while processing patient demographic and insurance information efficiently and accurately.  Areas within the Revenue Cycle include pre-registration, registration, pre-certification, financial clearance and counseling, financial assistance, scheduling, billing, claims follow-up, customer service and cash collection.  The primary responsibility of staff with the Revenue Cycle is to ensure the collection of net revenue for services rendered.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under general supervision this position monitors, collects and reports on trends in registration accuracy, staff performance and staff productivity.  This includes root cause analysis on error trends; working closely with department management and end-users to identify optimization opportunities; working with managers to prevent errors; monitoring and reporting on productivity metrics; and analysis of patient flow in comparison to staging levels.  This position must have a strong understanding of revenue cycle departments and processes, data analysis skills, and experience with data reporting.  This position warrants strong analytical and communication skills and involves understanding the unique needs of an operations environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor degree in Healthcare, Business, Computer Science, Medical Information Management or applicable field required.
  • Extensive knowledge of the following software programs: Access, Excel, Word, Power Point, Visio.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in Revenue cycle departments (including and not limited to scheduling, registration and hospital or physician billing) preferred.
  • General knowledge of Epic system experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of program logic, analysis, data structure design, report formatting.
  • Demonstrates the ability to learn and utilize new application software and systems.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to collaborate with large groups desired.
  • Able to demonstrate independence, self-initiative, thoroughness, attention to detail and learn new processes quickly and efficiently.
  • Strong computer skills required.
  • Ability to assist in educating or training others through classroom or other media desired.
