Job Summary/Basic Function:

This position is responsible for system management, development, and continued maintenance for three student information systems within the Admissions department: PeopleSoft Campus Solutions Recruiting and Admissions module, document imaging software, and Slate CRM. This position also supports the implementation, testing and validation of Oracle PeopleSoft PUM and PeopleTools upgrades. Additionally, this position acts as a data steward for the Recruiting and Admissions module in PeopleSoft as well as for the document imaging system’s Admissions data.

This position is not eligible for Visa Sponsorship.

This is a fully remote position. Incumbent must reside in the Treasure Valley.

Department Overview:

Boise State Undergraduate Admissions recruits and admits prospective undergraduate students in service to the university’s enrollment goals. The general functional areas of our department include customer service and campus visits, communications, recruitment, and systems/processing. Outreach and higher education advocacy are also important to our campus visit and other programming as we seek to serve future students in Idaho and beyond.

Level Scope:

Entry-level professional with limited or no prior experience to contribute on a project or work team. Incumbent learns to use professional concepts to resolve problems of limited scope and complexity under close supervision while achieving day-to-day objectives. Works on developmental assignments that are initially routine in nature, requiring limited judgment and decision making. This level is typically focused on self development. Requires theoretical knowledge through specific education and training.

Essential Functions:

60% of time the Business Analyst, Associate must perform:

System Security Management, System Maintenance, Testing, Troubleshooting, and Data Management

  • Acts as Testing Coordinator for PeopleSoft updates (PUMs), fixes and tools releases including preparing testing scenarios, conducting extensive business flow testing and validating testing results.  
  • Identifies, tests, and recommends automated system enhancements and modifications to PeopleSoft’s Recruiting and Admissions Module to improve business efficiencies within the Admissions Office.
  • Analyzes fit-gap needs, creates functional specifications, performs testing, provides training, and works with OIT Developers and Enterprise Application Systems staff to implement PeopleSoft enhancements and modifications.
  • Leverages delivered functionality within PeopleSoft and the Campus Solutions modules by researching, testing, and implementing business processes that utilize such methods as Query Manager, Pop-Select, 3C Engine and Communication Generation.
  • Evaluates, tests, recommends and implements modifications to File Parser and AAWS processes to ensure compatibility and accuracy between the PeopleSoft student information system and the Slate constituent relationship management system (CRM). 
  • Participates in the testing and implementation of all version and tools upgrades to the Perceptive Content document imaging system.
  • Participates in the testing and implementation of new functionality/upgrades to the Slate CRM.
  • Provides production support to resolves issues and errors encountered by Admissions users and campus-wide users who access Admissions data in PeopleSoft, the Perceptive Content document imaging system and the CRM system.
  • Provides production support to resolve issues and errors with File Parser and AAWS file import and export jobs between PeopleSoft and CRM systems.
  • Assists in the monitoring of data and helps to resolve errors between PeopleSoft to Slate data extracts by verifying data flow and record updates in PeopleSoft and the CRM. This may include using, modifying or writing queries in both Slate and PeopleSoft to find erroneous data.
  • Collaborates with OIT staff to identify and resolve issues with file imports and exports placed on the sftp server.
  • Serves as a data steward for PeopleSoft’s Admissions module, the CRM, and the Perceptive Content document imaging system systems, and is responsible for processing requests, troubleshooting security-related issues and recommending modifications to PeopleSoft security roles and permission lists.
  • Troubleshoot issues with PeopleSoft, Slate CRM, and Perceptive Content.

40% of time the Business Analyst, Associate must perform:

Documentation, Training, Data Defense

  • Assists in creating quality control queries to assist in the validation of data integrity across our systems.
  • Executes existing defensive queries to ensure data integrity.
  • Writes documentation drafts for new processes and performs draft updates documentation for new policies, with all drafts being reviewed and approved by senior team members. This includes complex and detailed instructions and troubleshooting steps for any custom processes.
  • Maintains and updates systems catalogs and documentation libraries.
  • Provides hands-on training and support to the Program Information Coordinator position, including backing up daily processes.
  • Provides training to users of Admissions data outside the Admissions department including Extended Studies, OIT staff, Enrollment Services, Graduate Admission & Degree Services, Academic Affairs, International Student Services, and Advising & Academic Enhancement.
  • Participate in Departmental, Divisional, and University events, initiatives and programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Proficiency with computer software technology.
  • Ability to self-teach and troubleshoot various software products.
  • Ability to notice when data deviates from the norm and take action.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word and Excel required)
  • Demonstrated communication, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work and contribute in a team environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and or relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of experience with similar work
  • Experience using the PeopleSoft SIS, the Slate by Technolutions CRM, and/or the Perceptive Content ECM.
