Job Description

As a Business Analyst, you will be responsible for working with diverse project teams to develop intelligent, insightful business requirements and support exciting front-end and back-end design and development projects. In addition to working on full-stack development and web design, this role will discover and build expertise in ASU’s growing marketing technology portfolio, working with cutting edge marketing technologies and their associated integrations with legacy systems.

Essential Duties

  • Ability to triage new requests, meet with diverse groups of stakeholders and project team members.
  • Ability to elicit requirements using a variety of methods for a variety of interesting technical efforts.
  • Evidence of continuously developing and expanding technical expertise by interacting with technical project team members like Software Developers, QA Analysts, Data Analysts etc.
  • Experience working with cross-matrixed stakeholders to understand and document complex business goals.
  • Ability to write clear, accurate, and useful software requirement specifications and acceptance criteria; develop and execute test plans; and collaborate with technical staff to coordinate implementation and control efforts to ensure forecasted benefits are achieved and sustained.
  • Ability to performs accurate, effective user acceptance testing on product development to ensure customers receive the functionality they have requested.
  • Experience monitoring and analyzing existing systems to ensure critical business processes are functioning and completing operational tasks.
  • Experience working with a diverse team of designers, developers, analysts, and project support staff both on- and off-site to represent the voice of the customer, explain requirements and clarify uncertainty.
  • Ability to utilize previously developed analytical skills to identify trends and anomalies. Distill learning from analyses into actionable insights.
  • Prior experience working with software teams is a must.
  • Evidence of knowledge of API systems and methodologies.
  • Evidence of knowledge of Salesforce Cloud products.
  • Evidence of knowledge of client-facing marketing tools and techniques.
  • Skills in implementing software or custom systems in one or more of the following areas:
    • Website development
    • AWS-based development
    • Google Analytics
    • Tag management
    • Communications
    • Advertising
    • User behavior
  • Demonstrate skills to analyze complicated problems.
  • Ability to create conceptual solutions that are technically feasible.
  • Ability to clearly explain concrete processes and abstract concepts both orally and inwriting.
  • Prior experience of effective performance as a member of a team.
  • Assumes or coordinates other duties or projects as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree AND two (2) years of experience in procedural, management or systems analysis work; OR, Six (6) years of experience in procedural, management, or systems analysis work; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/ or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.


Desired Qualifications

  • Evidence of a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field.
  • Experience in writing technical specifications and testing plans.
  • Experience supporting complex teams through complex projects.
  • Experience in higher education.
  • Experience working with creative design teams, i.e., front-end development, copy and graphic design.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of projects involving large-scale web applications and systems.
  • Ability to create projects involving:
    • AWS cloud services
    • Web design
    • Salesforce
    • Google 360 tools

Working Environment

EdPlus at ASU is located at SkySong, the ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center. The center houses a diverse business community that links technology, research, education, and entrepreneurship to position ASU and Greater Phoenix as global leaders in the knowledge economy.

  • Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting or standing.
  • Daily use of desktop or laptop computer is required.
  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally in English, read, write, see, and hear to perform essential duties.
  • Regular review of completed tasks.
