About the Department
 

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has 114 clinical providers, providing care at the main hospital in Hyde Park and seven off site locations. We have more than 60,000 outpatient visits, 25,000 ultrasound visits, 2,800 deliveries, and 3,000 gynecological surgeries per year. Teaching, research and the highest quality clinical care are top priorities for the Department. The residency and fellowship programs are highly ranked and have a history of training leaders in healthcare. The Department also has a significant research enterprise, engaging in population health studies, as well as research conducted in wet laboratories on tumor biology, fibroid research, and hypertensive diseases in pregnancy. Additionally, the Section of Family Planning has established a unique research center, CI3, which focuses on reproductive policy and innovations in sexual and reproductive health. The department was ranked #12 on the 2020-2021 U.S. News & World Report for Gynecology.


Job Summary
 

The job performs a range of professional activities for clinical programs related to teaching, medical research, and clinical care. Facilitates research initiatives of the faculty and staff. The job coordinates projects in monitoring the operating and capital budgets for divisions and/or University-wide administrative units. At the instruction of others, performs work that contributes to development of long and short-term financial goals, business strategies/plans, and financial forecasts/models for major service programs and initiatives. Utilizes moderate knowledge of finance to help coordinate quarterly and year-end reporting for the operating budget.

Responsibilities

  • Will work closely with our research faculty to maintain their budgetary needs and balances.
  • Assist in making sure that are off-site orders are up to date and accurate.
  • May manage special projects or functions related to the business of the organizational unit.
  • Professionally supports the clinical department management. Implements plans for clinical educational programs and initiatives.
  • Monitors finances for the clinical section. Provides management with regular updates and ensures that spending limits are adhered to and are within budget.
  • Assists faculty in the pursuit of grants and awards. Conducts special studies and projects, including the development and enhancement of funding opportunities by working closely with the faculty in the section.
  • Acts as a liaison between the section and other University departments.
  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications
 

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience:

  • Previous administrative experience strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience at an academic medical center strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with central administration within a complex research university environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience operating basic computer applications including but not limited to MS Office and Outlook.
  • Previous experience operating eLedgers.
  • Previous experience in the OB/GYN field.
  • Experience and or familiarity with GEMS, Buysite and ePayments.
