Job Description:

Summary


Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) at Iowa State University is seeking to hire a Business Administrator I. The Business Administrator I is a key member of the EH&S team (over 40 full time and student employees) that will manage the EH&S billing operations and day-to-day accounting functions, including but not limited to acting as EH&S Cost Center Manager, review Workday transactions, prepare financial reports, monitor, and reconcile accounts, manage accounts receivables and credit card processing, and collaborate with Finance Delivery.

This position will be a member of the administrative support team for EH&S and provide administrative duties such as greeting guests, answering phone calls, departmental filing, maintaining director calendars, and creating and editing departmental correspondence.

The successful candidate will possess the ability to pay close attention to detail and ability to prioritize; have excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Excel; billing experience; reconciling accounts; have ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment; maintain confidentiality; and establish and maintain effective working relationships. 



Example of Duties

• Represents the department on business affairs and/or faculty affairs to the institution community.

• Monitors and interprets operational policies and procedures in areas such as information technology, communications, and facilities.

• Prepares budgets and financial reports for grants, general appropriations, endowments, and other funds.

• Assists in establishing financial and operational systems to monitor, control, and verify expenditures and carry out financial analysis.

• Manages day-to-day operational needs of a department.

• May assist with employment business needs such as hiring of students, timekeeping responsibilities, and scheduling.

• May supervise students.
