Department Purpose

This position collaborates with all other units in the Office of the University Registrar to encode degree audit requirements used for confirming degree progress and completion of graduation requirements.



Job Summary

Under supervision of the Assistant Registrar for Transfer Credit and Degree Audit, the Degree Audit Project Analyst is an integral member of the team leading the implementation of the uAchieve degree audit system for UC Davis. The Degree Audit Project Analyst will serve as one of the lead encoders of the uAchieve degree audit system, analyzing academic policies and curriculum requirements and turning them into coding rules to build the degree audits in the new system.
The Degree Audit Project Analyst is a subject matter expert in regards to curriculum requirements and how they are encoded in the degree auditing system. The Analyst provides support to advisors and staff testing the new system and acts as a functional liaison with the central IT office and the vendor. Additional responsibilities include building test plans, conducting testing of the system, documenting test results, implementing remediation actions, and engaging in business process improvements for degree auditing. The incumbent is an active participant in broader OUR initiatives.
The scope of this position centers mostly around the curriculum of undergraduate programs and interacts with advisors of all four undergraduate colleges. This position may also deal with colleagues across other areas including, but not limited to, transfer credit, athletic certification, and graduate studies. This position works closely with the Information and Educational Technology staff that supports the degree audit system and vendor staff involved in the implementation of the new degree audit system.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Required:

 

Minimum Education/Experience

  • Minimum of two years of encoding experience in a degree audit system and experience working with relational database systems.

 

  • Experience comprehending and interpreting complex academic policies and curriculum requirements.

 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)

  • Skills to write test plans, process documentation, training and other reference materials.

 

  • Analytical and problem solving skills to identify and resolve unique and unforeseen problems in a logical and creative manner while maintaining the integrity of defined policies and best practices.

 

  • Current ability, or aptitude to learn, coding of curriculum into a degree auditing system ensuring accuracy and meeting faculty stipulated requirements.

 

  • Interpersonal and communication skills to professionally communicate in person, over the telephone or electronically to express and elicit information; and to handle sensitive or difficult situations diplomatically working with individuals from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.

 

  • Oral and written communication skills to present information effectively, tailor presentations to a wide variety of audiences.

 

 

Preferred:

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Experience with Banner Student Information System.

 

  • Experience with uAchieve degree audit software.

 

  • Experience & expertise in writing and executing test plans for new systems, and systems upgrades.

 

  • Experience working with academic advising and/or advising-related systems.

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)

  • Knowledge of campus degree requirement rules, policies and regulations.
