Department Description

This position is part of the FOA Business Partners unit, a consolidated business office serving the broader FOA organization, comprising 12 diverse operational units with total annual operating expenditures in excess of $330 million and approximately 1,600 budgeted staff positions. The position is assigned a specific operational unit(s) to support, but that assignment may change based on operational needs and workload within the Business Partners unit.



Job Summary

This position reports to the Business Systems and Solutions Team manager within FOA Business Partners. In this role, the analyst will work independently and in cohesion with team members to support projects related to finance and business systems that impact the university. This role will act as a liaison between business and technical stakeholders, collaboratively gathering requirements and critically analyzing complex data sets to support solution development for business needs. Primary data sources for analysis are financial, so this role will rely heavily on prior knowledge of financial accounting and financial workflows.

The primary technologies supported by this position include Oracle Cloud ERP and Workday Adaptive Planning. The ideal candidate will have experience with Oracle or Workday technologies and have experience using SQL or other tools to perform queries and conduct analysis on relational data sets.

As this job is highly technical, the position will require various tools and software to organize and manage information, tasks, and workflows.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Hybrid work environment (partially remote and in-office)
  • Work a non-standard schedule that may include occasional nights, weekends, or alternative schedules to meet deadlines.
  • Restricted use of vacation during the fiscal closing period.
  • May work in an office remotely located from unit supported.
  • Employee is personally responsible for following safety procedures/guidelines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, information technology, business administration, or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Extensive experience working with Excel and other Microsoft suite tools to perform data analysis, generate presentations, and write documentation.
  • Experience running data queries and using financial accounting systems.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

  • Some knowledge or experience with standard financial practices and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of business and process analysis functions, including the design, development, and application of technology and systems to meet business needs, including the ability to identify, analyze, and organize processing requirements, documentation, and data.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education/Experience:   

  • Experience working with or implementing Oracle Financials Cloud ERP.
  • Experience working with or implementing Workday Adaptive Planning or other Workday Products.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

  • Understands the needs and concerns of central finance, central budget, supply chain management, and user groups and the ability to determine strategies for best meeting those needs.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and working with vented SDLC and project management tools (i.e., SmartSheet), ticket-oriented task and defect resolution systems (i.e., Service Now, Jira), SharePoint and Box using standard project methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall in both independent and blended approaches.
  • Self-motivated and proactive with excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and team/collaboration skills.
