Department Description

UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) is the lifelong learning arm of the university. The division maintains the most diverse portfolio on the campus, with programs spanning pre-college, professional continuing education, workforce development, international academic and cultural exchange, and training services for corporate and agency partners. As a global leader in continuing education, CPE serves learners regionally, nationally and globally, and posts more than 55K enrollments annually making it the third largest UC Extension by enrollment. Beyond its community-facing role, CPE serves as the internal hub for online education in support of other academic units on the campus. CPE employs approximately 180 employees and draws on the expertise of approximately 1,700 instructors. 



Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Manager, Project Management and Business Intelligence, provide business systems analysis, research, project management, advanced training, and technical support on projects that provide technology solutions, business intelligence or portfolio and project management-related needs. Collaborate with business stakeholders to elicit, document, and analyze business requirements and objectives. Define and analyze business practices, processes, and problems, translating client requirements into workable models. Conduct data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights that drive informed decision-making. Research, recommend and provide design solutions that satisfy user requirements and optimize business processes and systems to enhance efficiency and productivity. Participate in the design and implementation of solutions to address business challenges, testing both technical and business compatibility. Prepare detailed reports, recommendations, and presentations for senior management. Assist in the development of business cases and cost-benefit analysis for proposed projects. Prepare general and detailed work plans, provide technical training, documentation, guidance, and support to clients. Plan and conduct end-user acceptance testing; may develop training materials for system/process implementation. As project manager, lead and manage cross-functional teams that involve multiple projects simultaneously, from initiation to closure, ensuring adherence to project timelines, scope, and desired outcomes. Act as project consultant for the division to ensure project management standards are adopted. Develop comprehensive project plans, including defining objectives, deliverables, resource requirements, and timelines. Monitor project progress, identify and mitigate risks, and provide regular status updates to stakeholders. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective project communication and alignment. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by optimizing project management processes and best practices. Identify and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate project success.

As a project manager, you will implement any DEI-related projects, as needed. In collaboration with the team, you will support utilization of data analytics to measure the impact of any DEI initiatives and track key performance indicators.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • Experience in business systems analysis, using analytical, problem-solving and management skills to independently research, develop, take ownership of, and confidently recommend technical solutions to complex problems and issues.
  • Experience gathering and documenting business requirements from multiple, cross-functional stakeholders using appropriate methodologies.
  • Experience determining priorities, delegating responsibilities, exercising independent judgment, collaborating with colleagues, and making appropriate decisions.
  • Experience providing technical training, documentation, guidance, and support to clients.
  • Experience working as a project manager and leading project teams.
  • Experience implementing processes in Smartsheet and Airtable, including automations, calculation, formulas, sheet integrations, as well as creating reports and dashboards.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

  • Interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills including diplomacy and the ability to explain complex technical and conceptual information to individuals of varying technical expertise.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred License/Certification: 

  • Business Analysis Certification
  • Project Management Certification

Preferred Education/Experience:   

  • Experience using Tableau, or another Data Visualization application.
  • Experience using Destiny One student management software.
  • Experience in quality assurance, user acceptance testing and monitoring of key performance indicators as part of project implementation and change management
  • Experience and demonstrable proficiency with Smartsheet.
