Bursar Support Associate

This position is located on the Cornell University Campus in Ithaca, New York. You will be expected to work on the Ithaca campus, although you may be permitted to perform a portion of your work remotely.

What you will do:
As a team member in Cornell University’s Office of the Bursar, the Bursar Support Associate will perform and coordinate all activities related to the Bursar Account Services area including Bursar, CornellCard, Full-Service Payment Plan (FSPP installment plan) accounts. 

Providing prompt and courteous customer service to students and others seeking assistance and guidance on student financial accounts is a primary responsibility.  Customer service will be provided via email, in person, virtually, by phone or in writing. The Bursar Support Associate will provide a variety of support tasks including acting as office triage coordinator by directing all customers (students, families, faculty and staff, etc.) to proper destination. 
 

This position will also work closely with Bursar and Treasury leadership to set up and coordinate multiple calendars as well as provide travel arrangements as needed and will coordinate with representatives from Financial Aid and Student Employment, Office of the Registrar, and other campus departments regarding student account charges and credit details.

Who you are:
You are a positive, customer service orientated person who takes pride in providing prompt, courteous service to all. You are also an organized, detail driven individual that is comfortable handling confidential information, balancing many tasks in a fast-paced office with minimal supervision. Additionally, you exercise sound judgement and decision making with urgent and sensitive information in times of high volume. You have strong communication skills and build effective working relationships with a broad range of individuals and organizations.

Ideally, you will have spent time working in a finance or higher education environment where you have worked with third party vendors, processed payments, vouchers and journal entries, have knowledge of cash management procedures and have some familiarity with financial transactions and accounting.

Some other important qualifications for the position include: 

  • An associate degree with at least two years of related experience OR an equivalent combination.

  • Proficiency in computer systems and software.
