About the Opportunity

Responsibilities:

The Academic/Residential Building Superintendent will perform a variety of duties to assist in the maintenance and repair of campus buildings as assigned by Building Services Supervisor of the Building Services Department.

Service and clean offices, classrooms and common areas by vacuuming, replacing light bulbs, servicing all recycling containers, and emptying trash receptacles. Superintendent will clean entryway glass on a daily basis as well as dust and wash walls, furniture and glass in offices partitions as needed. Will service restrooms by filling soap dispensers, sanitary napkin dispensers and paper towel and toilet paper dispensers. As necessary, will mop up water, leaks/spills and will unplug/unclog sinks and toilets. Superintendent is responsible for opening and closing buildings and keeping the entryways accessible. This includes sweeping debris off stairs and sidewalks in front of the building. Superintendent will be responsible for shoveling snow and applying deicer as needed to stairways, handicapped ramps and the building perimeter. Person is responsible for putting away delivered stock items such as toilet paper, paper towels and soap and transporting them to their stock room. The daily work routine includes touring buildings daily; checking for any needs such as work orders. It is the responsibility of the Superintendent to enter and track work orders until completion. Must assist other superintendents in setting up staging and tables/chairs for university functions as well as moving and setting up residence hall furniture. Must also cover other buildings if another Superintendent is out. Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations.

Qualifications:

• Suitable references and the ability to follow directions and interact with a variety of people.

• Must be able to work overtime during the week and on weekends when needed.

• Must have a valid Massachusetts driving license and DOT certificate.

• Must be able to lift up to a minimum of 50 lbs.

• Must be able to work alone and climb multiple sets of stairs, work off ladders, staging etc.

Requirements:

Ninety days after employment employees are required to become a member of Union Local 32BJ, District 615.

This position requires a criminal background check.

*40-hour work week

*Second shift, 12PM - 8:30PM/Scheduled Days TBD

Permanent membership on the Snow Team is a requirement of this position. Job description subject to change based upon the University needs and demands.
