About the Department
Mountain Horticultural Crops Research and Extension Center supports agricultural research on horticultural and other crops relevant to western NC and the state of North Carolina. The Center provides resources such as land, equipment, facilities, expertise, and personnel to research scientists conducting field research on agricultural commodities. The 397-acre Center houses twelve administrative and operational staff, as well as research faculty from six academic departments and Administrative offices for two Cooperative Extension district offices. The Center is also a hub in western NC for Extension education programs.
Essential Job Duties
The Building Environmental Services Technician performs building cleaning services. Tasks include sweeping, mopping, dusting disinfecting activities for research and administrative buildings. This position maintains an office in the front lobby of the Center, welcoming guests to the Center and handling deliveries for faculty/staff of MHCREC. They also maintain an inventory of supplies needed and order supplies for cleaning, IT, maintenance, and other areas. The technician keeps inventory of pesticides at the station, vehicle mileage, and other station inventory items.
This position is located in Mills River, NC.

Qualifications


Minimum Experience/Education
Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Special certification may be required for some of these positions.
Other Required Qualifications
  • Attention to detail and safe work habits.
  • Knowledge of professional standards for cleaning office environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple, concurrent customer needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in commercial and/or residential cleaning service.
Required License or Certification
  • A valid NC Driver’s License and the ability to obtain an NC Driver’s License within 60 days of hire.
  • A valid Driver’s License must be maintained throughout employment.
