Job Summary

This role will serve as the Building Services Manager for one building. At this time, the building is the Wayne and Gladys Valley Center for Vision in San Francisco, but the assignment may change. Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional to implement and coordinate building management procedures and workspace planning activities. Has general knowledge about several operational functions and oversees various facilities-related operational activities. Duties to include, but not limited to, emergency communication and response, work space scheduling and management, reception and concierge services, conference room management, and project coordination support. The incumbent will also help plan, organize , and execute building events and activities that improve employee engagement in the building.

Has general knowledge of several operational functions. Receives little instruction on daily work, and general instructions on new assignments. May function as a lead and resource for building support staff. Will perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Facilities Manager.

***NOTE: This is a Full-Time Career role.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description

The Facilities Services Department (FS) is committed to creating an exceptional campus physical environment to support the research, teaching, health care and community service mission of the University. FS employs over 500 professional staff/contractors and acts as steward for over $100 million in operating funds and $30 million in capital funds annually to achieve its goals in operating, maintaining, and renewing the UCSF physical environment. Located in the Campus Life Services (CLS) organization, FS is organized into five distinct units: (1) Mission Bay / East Campus Operations, (2) Parnassus / West Campus Operations, (3) Infrastructure & Utilities Services, (4) Customer Service & Technology, and (5) Strategic Organization Development. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in any related field and three to five years of relevant experience and/or equivalent combination of experience/training.
  • Thorough knowledge in the areas of building space planning, codes, capacity, security, fire safety, organization and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in order to provide a welcoming and service-oriented environment.
  • Ability to solve problems related to building operations and building occupant concerns.
  • Computer skills in the MS Word Suite or equivalent.
  • Thorough and effective skills to multi-task and prioritize daily activities effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of architectural, electrical, mechanical or engineering concepts.
  • Valid California Driver’s License.
