Building Maintenance Trades Supervisor

Responsible for the day to day work assignments; plans, schedules prioritizes and assigns workload; Coordinate with other trades to expedite completion of renovations assigned;

Provides feedback and guidance regarding worksite activities and performance;

Maintains equipment and tolls, oversees inventories, recommends purchases and coordinates and ensures completion of equipment repairs.

Assists implementation of preventative maintenance programs partnering with stakeholders to establish and/or coordinate systems and process upgrades.

Identifies and purchases job material within budget ensuring materials are received as appropriate;

May oversee construction and renovation sites; inspect worksites to ensure safety compliance and/or report non-compliant safety issues;

Act as liaison with customers to provide effective guidance and communication, consutls with various inspectors and agencies;

Prepares work progress and other reports, including forecasts and progress to actuals. Establishes and maintains needed records and files of personnel, equipment, materials, supplies, work done, time spent; assists with budget development, feasibility and logistics.

Obtain drawings from Planning and Design and review prior to start of construction projects; make decisions about changes to projects and instruct all trades when necessary about the changes made;

Must be able to respond to emergencies and be on-call;

Perform other duties as assigned

Associate Degree or technical/vocational school degree; Bachelor’s degree preferred;

Minimum of 5 to 7 years’ related experience of which must be direct supervision of staff;

Knowledge of all parts of construction, i.e. electrical, carpentry, plumbing and masonry;

Must be able to guide all craftsmen in the performance of their jobs;

Must have working knowledge of estimating both job costs and labor costs;

Must be able to work with employees and supervisors of other trades;

Must be skillful in coordination of construction and supervision of the trades;

Must attend job project meetings;

Must also defend the University concerning any grievance filed by the Union.
