Job Description

The Opportunity:

The Budget Analyst provides administrative support to the Administration and Business Operations department by contributing to various projects. The ideal candidate should have experience supporting management and be comfortable being a liaison between the leadership of the department and university staff and leadership. This role requires initiative, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The budget analyst should have strong analytical skills with a background in accounting, budgeting, and financial statement analysis, with experience utilizing financial management systems.

Please note: This position is in-person at Embry-Riddle's Worldwide Headquarters located in Daytona Beach, Florida. This position is not remote or hybrid.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Compiles monthly, quarterly, and annual budget reports, performs a variance analysis, and conducts research for variance issues.

  • Participates in the preparation and maintenance of the annual budget, including review of the departmental budget submissions for completeness/accuracy.

  • Enters budget amendments and transfers into the Workday financial management system.

  • Prepares reports for the Project Manager and Chief Business Officer upon request.

  • Verifies accuracy of transactions charged to the Business Operations cost centers and proposes corrections, as necessary.

  • Collaborates with Budget Office team on implementation of new procedures and ensures processes are effective, documented, and communicated to Worldwide staff.

  • Completes additional projects and assignments as assigned by the Project Manager.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or another related field

  • (3-5) years of work-related experience

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven experience supporting management and acting as a liaison between leadership and staff.

  • Strong analytical skills with a background in budgeting, financial statement analysis, and utilization of financial management systems.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate initiative.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Workday Financials, Power BI

  • Experience working in higher education
