About the Opportunity
The primary purpose of the position is to ensure the maintenance, proper functionality as well as regulation and policy compliance of a high power UHF Television transmitter site. This includes all repair and maintenance of transmitter equipment, test and monitoring equipment and all other associated equipment and systems as well as the physical plant and grounds. This position may also provide support for the maintenance of low power television translators and microwave radio sites.

UNC System employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2-hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

About the Team
PBS North Carolina’s Technology Division is responsible for the operations and maintenance of the statewide broadcast network in addition to studio production infrastructure, information technology, and facilities.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Skills
High school diploma or equivalency and completion of a two-year technical school program in electronics; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees much be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Competencies
Knowledge – Technical: Full knowledge of electronic and/or RF principles. Full knowledge of analog/digital electronic equipment, including test equipment, and the techniques for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, upgrading and repairing such equipment.
Analytical Thinking: Ability to gather and apply appropriate data, analyze that data, and design unique devices, systems, programs or equipment as needed.
Teamwork: Ability to lead, offer guidance and manage team activities to achieve desired goals.
Communication: Ability to explain and interpret comprehensive technical information, in unique situations to co-workers, team members, management, clients/customers and the public. Ability to make recommendations as required and to suggest and support alternative approaches.
