Job-Specific Responsibilities

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Branch Administration, the Branch Manager: 

•    Oversees and monitors all Branch operations. Ensures timely and accurate daily branch balancing. Responsible for branch security and monthly audit procedures in regards to money orders, instant issue debit card stock, branch and teller cash, and ATMs.
•    Actively seeks opportunities to increase HUECU visibility, develop memberships and new business in deposits, consumer loans and residential mortgages within the Harvard/MGH/Partners organizations. Develops and maintains strong business relationships with key affiliate personnel. Performs scheduled on-site visits to these organizations. Supports Community Engagement Specialist with active planning, participation in, and coordination of benefit fairs, seminars and other related member educational programs and activities.
•    Supervises, organizes, trains and evaluates staff in order to increase their productivity and effectiveness and to deliver efficient, consistent and courteous service excellence.  Maintains positive employee morale and a harmonious working environment.
•    Promotes sales and actively sells HUECU products and services and supports and encourages branch staff to do the same with training and motivation.  In line with HUECU goals and objectives, develops, communicates and achieves branch and individual sales plans to increase the member base and develop multiple member relationships.  Demonstrates effective account retention efforts.
•   Holds consumer loan signing authority and acts within established approval guidelines.  Supports emphasis on loan processing and closing in a timely manner.  Provides expertise to staff regarding underwriting to maintain loan quality.
•    Suggests methods for improving efficiency of branch operations. Measures and evaluates branch performance using various measurement tools and reports. Recommends changes in facilities, staffing levels, hours, etc. necessary to better meet member needs and to improve productivity. Detects problem areas, and recommends solutions.
•    Acts as a primary resource, providing direction and expertise to staff and Credit Union members. Receives and resolves escalated inquiries or issues from members.
•    Assures compliance with federal and state laws and regulations, as well as HUECU’s internal policies and procedures.
•    Participates in hiring, career development, evaluation and termination of employees.  Assures branch location has adequate staffing. Assures training and development opportunities for new and existing staff.  Promotes and supports goal setting for objective performance evaluation.
•    Participates in Retail Services planning and projects, as well as the product development process and writing of policies and procedures.
•    Oversees the physical appearance of the branch, taking necessary action to ensure that required standards are maintained.
•    Collaborates with other Branch Managers on staffing, planning, strategic and operational issues that impact all retail staff.
•    May need to travel at late notice to provide coverage at any branch, depending on the needs of the business.
•    Performs other job-related duties and assignments as required or directed.


Typical Core Duties

  • Responsible for effective staff management for a group or team of employees, including hiring and orientation, training and development, workflow and performance management, and the promotion of an inclusive and innovative work environment
  • Manage operations of branch including customer service, branch balancing, physical appearance and security; ensure adequate personnel coverage for branch location; identify opportunities to streamline and improve processes and recommend changes in facilities, staffing levels, and branch hours
  • Develop, communicate and achieve individual sales plans to increase member base
  • Assist in developing retail products and services including vendor selection, writing policies and procedures and product changes
  • Hold loan signing authority and act within established approval guidelines
  • Responsible for IRA plan management, including annual reporting requirements and mandatory distributions
  • Ensure financial compliance with University policies and procedures and applicable legal rules and banking regulations

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience

Additional Qualifications and Skills

•    A minimum of two years supervisory experience required.
•    Must be familiar with federal and state banking regulations.
•    Notary Public registration required or obtained within 90 days of hire.
•    Excellent interpersonal, demonstrated written and verbal communication, business development, sales and training skills necessary.
•    Must display a high level of comfort and sensitivity working within the diverse and multicultural atmosphere of the MGH/Partners/Harvard communities.
•    Position requires local area travel to various affiliate locations.
•    Must pass a mandatory reference and background screening, which includes an OFAC check.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to exert up to 35 pounds of lifting force occasionally

Working Conditions

Interview and onboarding activity for this position may be conducted via telephone & Zoom video conferencing, based on the department’s current presence on campus.

Schedule

M - F 35.00hrs per week/ 7 hours per day default schedule but additional hours will be required, either early or late Thursdays and early Saturday hours as necessary.  Will be expected to attend after hours meeting and events as required. This is an Exempt position.
